Haiti Earthquake Pictures
We have been hearing and seeing a lot in the news about the devastation in Haiti. Compassion International has been posting pictures of general images of the damage in Port-au-Prince as well as pictures of their office buildings and development centers. You can see them on their flickr account at Haiti Earthquake Set here
Compassion also is collecting for Haitian relief. A place where you know they are being good stewards of your money. You can check it out here.

Here’s their story.
———–
OUR CAUSE: Every 100,000 views this video receives, Dude Perfect will sponsor one child overseas! Read more details below…
Why were we at Sky Ranch? Well, some of the Dude Perfect Team served as counselors at Sky Ranch Camps this summer with kids of all ages. So there ya go!
So…OUR CAUSE:
We as the Dude Perfect Team want to be a part of something big. For that reason, we have decided to sponsor children overseas. We want to be a group of college guys that uses this opportunity to create something more than crazy basketball videos.
Our plan right now is this:
For every 100,000 views the Summer Camp edition receives, we will sponsor one child through an awesome organization called Compassion International. We are already set to sponsor a few, and for example, if our video hits 1 million views this semester, the six of us will be sponsoring 10 more kids! Were really excited about this, and we hope you guys will help us spread the word so we can sponsor as many kids as possible!
If you enjoyed the video and support what we are doing, we would absolutely love it if you would forward this message around to your friends, family and co-workers!
And even more importantly, you could copy this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4giMyqv0qc and put it in your facebook status or Twitter about it!! School is just starting back for many of us and people need a reason to smile! Lets flood Facebook and Twitter with a little glimpse into Summer Camp.

Four Stars
It happened again, for the eighth time in a row!
Charity Navigator which evaluates more that 5,400 charities each year has again given Compassion International it’s highest rating for responsible financial management.
What this means is that you can be assured that when you sponsor a child through Compassion International, you know that they are making the most out of every bit of your donation! But don’t forget their real objective: to release children from poverty in Jesus’ name.
And So It Begins…
Lifest 2009 starts today. If you are not familiar with it, It is one of the largest christian music festivals in the Midwest. This is the second year Faithware has been a vendor at this event. They festival is a 5 day event. It started today (Wednesday) at 5:00 pm and ends on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. It is a great time with lots of music (several separate stages) speakers, food and love.
Will try and add more tomorrow!
Compassion Connection
For those who are sponsoring a child with Compassion International (or who are thinking about it, hint, hint,) Compassion have come up with a new website that will connect you with others who sponsor children in the country your child is located in and even in the same development center that your child is attending. It is a beta site, so it seems they are still working out some bugs, but they have over 1700 members already and It looks like it will grow very quickly. What an awesome concept though!
Here is a little video that explains it much better than I can.

Happy Mother’s Day
There are a lot of great blogs floating around out there for Mother’s Day, so as a tribute to all Mom’s, I thought I would put together a few of my favorites.
Mother’s Day: Every Day Of The Year Written By Gayle White for Compassion International!
For those maybe hurting today with missing family, please read this beautiful post by Molly Piper
A Mothers Burden Is Never Too Heavy. Another great story from Compassion International!
Anne Jackson was told about A Great Mother’s Day Gift here!
And lastly, this one is for the guys. A reminder for the rest of the year!
As I Promised…
I hope you caught some of the Compassion bloggers posts from from 2009 India trip that I talked about here. As I promised, there were some amazing stories that gave you the true story of what Compassion International is about. You can catch the whole series here.
There were two videos in particular from the trip that really gave me a good idea of how children benefit from Compassion International and your sponsorship. The first video talks about a child’s day at one of the Compassion Centers.
This one I really appreciated because it tells you what your $1 a day does for a child, And more importantly what your letters and the relationship that you build does for that child.
You can check out many more videos from this trip on the right hand side of this page.
Anne Jackson spoke of one child who when asked what he wanted to be when he grew up would not answer. Here is the video.
He didn’t answer because he didn’t have a dream. The translators spoke of the cycles of poverty that their parents, and their grandparents and their great grandparents come from. They have no dream because the cycle of poverty is all they know, so future hopes and dreams simply don’t exist.
2009 India
“From April 26th to May 2nd, five bloggers will witness firsthand the ministry of Compassion International to the poor of East India. Visit this page daily to travel across the world to the impoverished neighborhoods of Kolkata through their stories, pictures and videos - and rediscover hope.”
Some of my favorite bloggers are going on this trip, I’m sure it will be very interesting reading for the next week. Shaun Groves had a great post that also helps define Compassion International, check it out here.
