On Faith

“To one who has faith, no explanation is necessary. To one without faith, no explanation is possible.” - St. Thomas Aquinas

All I Can Say is, WOW!

One of my favorite bloggers Loswhit wrote here last week about Rollng Hills Church In Fayetteville, GA and their ultimate sacrifice.   What faith this congregation has and maybe the true meaning of Church? It sounds radical but from looking at the orginal article from the Atlanta Journal Constitution this is not the first church to do this.

Does Satan Exist?

A fascinating discussion on Nightline by a diverse panel.  I think they stray from the title a bit but a great contrast of ideas. Check it out here.

Props To Danny!

We’ve got to give our props to Danny Gokey, for making it to the final three in American Idol. A GREAT voice and a GREATER role model!

If you are an American Idol junkie, there is a special documentary called “From Idol To Inspiration” that was being played on the Gospel Music Channel. It tells the story of several Christian American Idol contestants including Melinda Doolittle, Jennifer Hudson, Mandisa Hundley, Chris Sligh, Jordin Sparks, and Phil Stacey. This video does include Milwaukee’s Danny Gokey. It looks like it is no longer in the GMC viewing rotation, but you can at least view the segment on Danny here.

Way to go Danny!

Giving Up Fear

Two great posts today ended up being quite similar.

Jennifer at Conversion Diary talked about “A Day Without Fear” stating that she gave up fear for Lent and made a point of actively calling on God for help and trusting in Him that He would not give her more than she could handle. It worked so well during Lent that she has continued daily ever since.

Then there was an absolutely outstanding post by Perry Noble “The Question That Changed My Life.” That question was “What would you be willing to attempt for God if you knew you could not fail?” He went on to state that this was the catalyst for the planting Of New Spring Church.

If we have complete trust in God then there should be no fear. I know that for me, the fear is, How do I know if I am actually doing God’s will and that I understand His plan for my life?  Perry spoke about this in one of his messages at New Spring.  He states that he believes “the key to knowing God’s will is simply to have a daily intimate walk with Him.” If we truly want to discover Gods will then we have to be intentional listening for God’s word and “We will never know the will of God apart from the word of God.”   We can only know God’s will by reading his word.

Perry nails it in his post by saying that:

  • “Too many of us are held captive by the unknown…but remember HE KNOWS!  Besides…if we have EVERY answer to every question then what He is commanding us to do would not require faith on our part…and where would the fun be in that?!?!?!”
  • “Too many of us are held captive by people who say “it” can’t be done…but if you will look at who is saying that “it” you will discover that they aren’t actually doing anything except for trying to hold back the people God is letting loose to do ministry.”
  • “Too many of us are held captive by critics…but if you will notice Jesus was criticized…and, if you are not experiencing some opposition then that means the enemy is pleased with you…not exactly the calling our lives should fulfill!!!”

So my question to you is what is the dream God implanted in you? “What would you be willing to attempt for God if you knew you could not fail?”

Cardboard Stories

I have seen several different versions of these, but I must admit, I never get tired of them.

Less Than 1 Percent of Young Adults Hold Biblical Worldview

This article is even more depressing than yesterdays.

Less Than 1 Percent of Young Adults Hold Biblical Worldview

The statement that George Barna made, that is the most troubling to me, is that “although most Americans consider themselves to be Christian and say they know the content of the Bible, less than one out of ten Americans demonstrate such knowledge through their action.”

Why Is that?

I remember a message the Perry Noble gave where he stressed that “we cannot know the will of God, unless we read the word of God.”  In this article,  Barna states that most say that they know the content of the bible. If they are not demonstrating it in their actions, I wonder if it is because they actually may just only know the themes and general stories of the bible and not really KNOW the contents? Are they really hearing His word or are they just ignoring it?

Most U.S. Christians Don’t Believe Satan, Holy Spirit Exist

Interesting article.

Nearly six out of ten Christians either strongly agreed or somewhat agreed with the statement that Satan “is not a living being but is a symbol of evil,” the latest Barna survey found. read the rest of the article here.

Does this mean as Christians we don’t know what we believe?
Or that culture has us watering down the gospel?
Or is this just not a legitimate survey?

Christ Is Risen!

Christ is risen indeed!

Alleluia!

3 Quick Takes On Monday

I have always believed one of the greatest gifts God has given us is the gift of free will. I love this post “Does God ‘Lead Us Into Temptation’”?

Here is a great reminder “What are The Greatest Commandments?” The last sentence is a great reminder for us all!

Phil again nailed it with his latest post on Heartlight I love it even more because it is the verse we have centered Faithware around.
